This story is all about being wise to survive. I read thhis story because it incite my imagination on how will the main character figure out his problem. This story is relatable to us Filipino's for being determined and crafty in every challenge that we encounter in our daily life.

There was a clever mouse deer named Sang Kancil. He lived along the river sorrounded by so many trees. There he stumble some problems, and some of thhis is finding food to fill in his starving stomach. One day, Sang Kancil saw a tasty-looking fruit on the other side of the river. He ponders of some ways on how to cross the river without being eaten by Sang Buaya since this predator waited him for a long time to be his meal. When he had an idea, he immediately called out the crocodile and said " there will be a big feast holding by the King and all are invited to come. But first, I need to cross the river so I can pass across your head and count all of you. When Sang Kancil finally reached at the other side of the river he said,"thank you for helping me getting through the river: to my new home. Sang Buaya was so angry by Sang Kancil because he was outsmarted by him. Sang Kancil adored his new home

This story has good moral to people, such as being independent and wise, especially in dealing with our different obstacles that we encounter in life. We should not always expect or depend for the blessings to pour in that easy, we have to do our part and work it out, at least. Like Sang Kancil he faced and unravel his issue in finding his food, he used his intellect to discover ideas on how to survive. But there are also negative values here, like outwitting others for own sake or using others just to attain what we want. This is indeed self-centeredness; this behavior might hurt other people along the way. Greediness is also there, Karma to Sang Buaya, because of his gluttonous attitude, his desire to eat Sang Kancil was a big failure.

Therefore, I conclude that a person having a bad trait towards his comrade on the process he may take it back or it will hit him back.

I read this story "Outwitting Crocodile" by Chook Foo a Malaysian Folktale. This story reflects the attitude of Malaysian people, not relying on blessings only but also looking ways to survive.
